LINCOLN SQUARE — There's no excuse to be bored this weekend, with not one but three major festivals on tap, along with enough block parties, yard sales and outdoor movies to leave everyone exhausted come Monday.

The Irish American Heritage Festival takes place Friday through Sunday at the Irish American Heritage Center, 4626 N. Knox Ave. More than 100 musicians and dancers are slated to perform over the course of the three-day fest, including headliners Gaelic Storm, the Kildares and the Tossers.

Vendors will be selling Irish food, clothing and jewelry, and naturally there will be spirits — enjoy tastings of whiskey, beer and mead. A must-see: the Men in Kilts contest, 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

Tickets are $15 Friday and Saturday, $20 on Sunday, $10 for seniors, and children under 10 are free. For more information on hours and schedule, click here.

In Roscoe Village, it's all about patties of meat sandwiched between buns — in other words, Burger Fest, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, on Belmont Avenue between Damen and Oakley. Fourteen restaurants will compete for "best burger" votes, including DMK Burger Bar, Leader Bar, and Butcher & Burger.

The Square Roots festival takes over Lincoln Square Friday through Sunday.

There are also a bevy of free outdoor movie options, all at dusk on Friday: "The Nut Job" at Mayfair Park, 4550 W. Sunnyside Ave.; "Despicable Me 2" at Eugene Field Park, 5100 N. Ridgeway Ave.; and "Avengers" at Independence Park, 3945 N. Springfield Ave.

The Horner Park farmers market makes its debut, bringing the number of area weekend farmers markets to four.

Brisku's Bistro and Bar in Irving Park, 4100 N. Kedzie Ave., is celebrating its 13th anniversary with a pig roast on Saturday. Stop by for a plate of pork, $7, and a drink or two.

The Greater Independence Park Neighborhood Association is taking its turn hosting a community-wide yard sale, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Hunt for treasures and bargains, between the boundaries of Pulaski Road, Irving Park Road, Central Park Avenue and the Kennedy Expressway.

Sunday's World Cup final pits Germany against Argentina and the place to cheer on Team Deutschland is sure to be DANK Haus, the German American Cultural Center, 4740 N. Western Ave. Organizers advise folks to arrive at 1 p.m. in order to snag a prime seat. To accommodate the anticipated crowd, the viewing party has been moved to the Grand Ballroom on DANK's fifth floor.

If, after all that excitement, you've got any energy left, "Is This a Thing?" live lit storytelling series is happening at 7 p.m. Monday at O'Shaughnessy's, 4557 N. Ravenswood Ave. This month's topic: I Was Wrong.
