UPTOWN — A shuttered taco joint in Andersonville is on track to re-open in about two weeks as a new taco restaurant with a Korean twist, the owner of the business said.

Takos Koreanos owner Phillip Yoon was outside the 2,000-square-foot restaurant Thursday afternoon as crews put finishing touches on the storefront at 1706 W. Foster Ave, the former location of Cosina Grill before it closed earlier this year.

The 30-year-old South Side resident said he expects the Mexican-Korean fusion restaurant to debut in Andersonville "in 11 or 12 days," barring any unforeseen delays.

"It should be fun, we'll be here late, we'll open every day around lunch," Yoon said, though he didn't mention official business hours yet.

Yoon said to expect "a lot of Korean barbecue and tortillas." So far, about 70 percent of the menu will be tacos with spicy and barbecued meats prepared in the Korean fashion, and the rest of Takos Koreanos' fare will be Mexican and Korean appetizers.

The restaurant has seating for 65 people and will kick things off as a BYOB establishment.

Yoon said he will likely have a liquor license "in a few months," but as many business owners navigating the city process have said, "we'll see how it goes," when it comes to how long that takes.
