CHICAGO — A 28-year-old man has been charged with attacking two women with a hammer near Navy Pier on Tuesday, police said.

Jawaun Westbrook, who listed an address in the 400 block of East Ohio Street, was charged with two felony counts of aggravated battery with a dangerous weapon, police said.

Police said two 55-year-old women were walking on the lakefront bike path near the pier at 6:30 p.m. when Westbrook attacked them with the hammer.

Both women were taken in fair condition to Northwestern Hospital.

Westbrook was arrested shortly after the incident. He is expected to appear in bond court Thursday.
