LINCOLN PARK — Lincoln Park Zoo will soon be home to not one but two new baby marsupials.

Recently, a baby kangaroo named Jack finally made its way out of his mother’s pouch after being born in early December, according to the Lincoln Park Zoo blog.

He can be found wobbling around the Antelope and Zebra Area with other kangaroos. Among them is Coco, who was born late last May and named by second graders at Whittier Elementary School, and is now the oldest of the gang.

Now another adorable baby kangaroo — they're referred to as joeys is waiting to make its entrance into the world.

Jack was named by a 9-year-old named Olivia in May at a Members-Only Morning event put on by the zoo; the newest joey has yet to be named because its gender is still unknown.

The zoo posted a picture where one can see the joey poking its head out of its mother’s womb.

The birth of a kangaroo is a gradual process: they are born very small and, immediately after birth, crawl into their mother's pouch. The animals gradually spends more time outside the pouch until it leaves for good when it is between 7 and 10 months.
