LOGAN SQUARE — The next youth soccer tournament for the Haas Park community kicks off this weekend.

The Haas Park Advisory Council has formed a partnership with We Got Game and the Chicago Police Department to create the Haas Community Cup. The Soccer Community Cup will divide players into teams to compete in an open-style tournament Saturday and Sunday at Haas Park, 2402 N. Washtenaw Ave.

There will be mandatory substitutions every six minutes to ensure every player gets a chance to show his or her skills.

Games will be played on the big field in three sets for kids ages 5-11 on Saturday:

• Ages 5-7 from 10 a.m.-noon

• Ages 8-10 from noon-2 p.m.

• Ages 11-14 from 2-4 p.m.

Each game is set at a cost of $20 per player.

“The Kick Off” tournament will host eight teams in two divisions from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday. The winner of each division will play for the cup. The tournament costs $350 per team.

The Haas Park Advisory Council hopes to host three or four tournaments each year.
