CHICAGO — Two people were wounded in daytime shootings on the South Side Tuesday, police said.

The latest shooting occurred at 7:05 p.m. when a car chase ended in a crash in the 8900 block of South Stony Island Avenue, police said.

The 26-year-old driver of the crashed car tried to run away but was shot at by those in the other car.

The man, a documented gang member, was shot in his head and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center.

An 18-year-old woman was hospitalized after being shot in the head while in Chatham Tuesday afternoon, police said.

The incident occurred in the 900 block of East 83rd Street at 1:20 p.m., police said.

The woman was initially taken to University of Chicago Hospitals in critical condition before being transferred to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition.
