CHINATOWN — The runners who descend on Chinatown for the annual 5K race will be taken on a new course that allows them to take in more of the unique neighborhood.

The race begins 8 a.m. Saturday along the commercial areas along Archer Avenue and right down Wentworth Avenue, then winds south through the residential areas before heading north again. Here's a look at the map; those streets along the course will be closed throughout the morning.

Runners have until Tuesday to register in advance by visiting this website. The cost is $43. Race-day registration will cost $50 (cash only).

Also included in the day's events are a pair of "youth runs," a 200-meter dash and a quarter-mile race. Both begin at 9 a.m. The cost to register for the youth run is $20 in advance or $25 on race day.

Packets can be picked up from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the lower-level food court within the Richland Center, 2002 S. Wentworth Ave.

For more information on the event, see the official Chinatown 5K website.
