Brainerd Armed Robbery Leaves Three Wounded

CHICAGO — Five people were shot overnight including three people shot during a robbery Wednesday night.

Around 11:07 p.m. Wednesday, three men were shot during a robbery in the 1400 block of West 90th Street in Brainerd.

An 18-year-old man and a 22-year-old man walked to the second floor of a building and found a 33-year-old man, who they attempted to rob before shooting him in the chest. The 33-year-old man was then able to pull out his own gun and shoot both men, Gaines said.

The 33-year-old man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in stable condition. The 22-year-old was also taken to Christ in serious condition after being shot in the chest. The 18-year-old was in stable condition at Little Company of Mary Hospital after being shot in the arm, Gaines said.

No one is in custody for the shootings.

In the most recent shooting, two people were shot at a stoplight in the 4800 block of West Diversey Avenue in Belmont Cragin when a man pulled alongside them, got out of his car and opened fire, said Officer Ron Gaines, a police spokesman.

A 34-year-old man was take to St. Mary's Hospital in stable condition after being shot in the back and chest. A 39-year-old man was also shot in the back and shoulder but refused medical attention, Gaines said.
