OLD TOWN — The World's Tallest Uncle Sam is set to perform at the Chicago History Museum's Fourth of July celebration Friday.

This year marks the 55th time that the museum has hosted its annual Independence Day celebration, which is free to the public.

The celebration will take place on the Museum's Uihlein Plaza and will include music by The American Patriotic Concert Band.

The museum's party starts at 10 a.m. and will also include a juggler, face painting and crafts for kids.

The World's Tallest Uncle Sam leads a children's parade at 10:45 a.m. and Museum president Gary T. Johnson is set to kick off the formal program featuring the National Anthem at 11 a.m.

Ald. Michele Smith (43rd) will lead a reading of the Pledge of Allegiance during the formal program, Scott Lothes, President and Executive Director of the Center for Railroad Photography & Art, will read the Declaration of Independence and Randall C. Dunn, Head of School at The Latin School of Chicago, will give a keynote speech.

The celebration will close with King’s Regiment Eighth of Foot firing Brown Bess Muskets.

After the celebration ends at noon, the museum will open with free admission for Illinois residents.
