The Salsa Truck is Coming to Maria's

BRIDGEPORT — Hungry barflies, take note.

Late-night eats are coming to Maria's Community Bar on July 5, courtesy of The Salsa Truck.

The city's first licensed mobile food preparer will make a cameo at the bar, 960 W. 31st St., from 9 p.m.-midnight on July 5. More food trucks are expected to visit the bar throughout the summer.

The Salsa Truck is operated by Dan Salls, a financial adviser who quit his lucrative gig to chase his dream of operating a food truck, a converted former ice cream truck he's transformed into a mobile taco-slinging, salsa-making tour de Mexican food force. 

Here's a look at The Salsa Truck's menu:

Taco lunch: $10
Two tacos, chips and two salsas and a drink

Tacos a la carte: $3

  • Al pastor (tender pork belly in homemade adobo with pineapple)
  • Carne asada (skirt steak marinated in mojo sauce)
  • Carnitas (pork shoulder rubbed in ‘the salsa truck blend’ and shredded)
  • Pollo (slowly roasted and shredded chicken in adobo sauce)
  • Chorizo (house-cured chorizo with chilis, cider vinegar and agave nectar)
  • Rajas (peppers, onion, seasonal ingredients with lime)

Chips and guacamole: $4
Chips and 2 salsas: $3

Salsas

  • Salsa de la casa ("the recipe that started it all")
  • Verde (tomatillo, Serrano, agave nectar, lime)
  • Roasted tomatillo/chipotle (tomatillo, chipotle, cilantro, lime)
  • Roja (fire-roasted tomato, chili guajillo, chile arbol, chili morita)
