At Least Nine Wounded in City Shootings Since Saturday Evening

CHICAGO — At least nine people were wounded in shootings across Chicago since Saturday evening.

The most recent shooting occurred around 4:50 a.m. Sunday in the 6400 block of South King Drive in Parkway Gardens. A 25-year-old man was in critical condition at an area hospital after being shot in his back. The man was uncooperative with police, said Officer Michael Sullivan, a police spokesman.

Around 3 a.m., a 34-year-old man was shot in the 13200 block of South Langley Avenue in Altgeld Gardens. The man was in good condition at Advocate Christ Medical Center after being grazed in the neck, Sullivan said.

At 12:48 a.m. Sunday, a man in his 20s was shot in his stomach while standing near the corner of 18th Street and South Throop Street. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, said Officer Ron Gaines, a police spokesman.

At 12:31 a.m. Sunday, a 37-year-old man was shot in his arm and back while standing in a parking lot in the 1900 block of South Pulaski Road in North Lawndale. A dark-colored vehicle pulled up near the vehicle and a man hopped out of the car and opened fire. The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where his condition stabilized, Gaines said.

Around 8:30 p.m. Saturday, a 24-year-old man was grazed in the buttocks while in the 7800 block of South Bennett Avenue in South Shore. The man was taken to Christ in good condition, Sullivan said.

Around 6:30 p.m. Saturday, a 27-year-old man was shot during a drive-by in the 5600 block of South Wolcott Avenue in Englewood. He was taken to Christ in good condition, police said.

An hour earlier, two people were shot in a possible drive-by in the 6200 block of South Vernon Avenue in Woodlawn. A man in his 20s was shot in his foot and a woman in her 20s was shot in her arm after the shooting, which occurred around 5:25 p.m. Both people were listed in good condition at the University of Chicago Hospital, Gaines said.
