CHICAGO — At least 12 people were wounded in shootings across the city's South and West Sides since Friday night, police said.

Two people were wounded in the most recent shooting in South Austin. The men were in the 300 block of North Laramie Avenue when they were shot in their legs about noon, police said. One man, 21, was taken to Mount Sinai in good condition. The other, 22, was taken to West Suburban Hospital, also in good condition.

Police said the two men were in a van at a stoplight when a man came up and started shooting. Area North detectives are investigating, and no one is in custody.

Earlier, a 26-year-old man was shot in Little Village, police said.

The man was walking with a friend in the 4000 block of West 24th Place about 4:29 a.m. when a four-door sedan pulled up and the people inside began flashing gang signs, said Officer Ron Gaines, a police spokesman.

Someone inside the car then opened fire, shooting the 26-year-old in his shoulder, Gaines said. The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where his condition stabilized.

About the same time, a 27-year-old man was wounded in a drive-by shooting in Auburn Gresham. The man was walking in the 8000 block of South Justine Street when someone inside a passing black, four-door sedan fired shots, hitting the 27-year-old in both his legs, Gaines said.

He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where his condition stabilized, police said.

About 3 a.m., a 25-year-old man was shot in West Pullman.

The man was walking with his girlfriend in the 11800 block of South Yale Avenue when he saw his ex-girlfriend walking with her new boyfriend, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a police spokeswoman.

There was a confrontation, and the new boyfriend pulled out a gun and shot the 25-year-old in his abdomen and right arm, Sedevic said.

The man was taken to Roseland Hospital where his condition stabilized.

About 12:54 a.m., a man was shot during a robbery in South Austin, police said. A 39-year-old man was walking in the 5000 block of West Madison Street when a gunman approached him and demanded money, Gaines said.

After the victim handed over cash, the gunman told the man to get on the ground, but the man refused. The gunman then shot the man in the leg and fled in a car, Gaines said. The injured man was taken to John H. Stroger Hospital where he was listed in good condition.

About the same time, police shot a man a block away after he pointed a gun at officers following a brief car chase. Police were still investigating early Saturday morning to see if the two incidents were related.

A 17-year-old boy and a 21-year-old man were shot about 11 p.m. in the 6000 block of South Prairie Avenue in Washington Park. The two men were standing outside when they heard gunfire and felt pain, Gaines said.

The 17-year-old was shot in his back and was taken to Stroger Hospital where he was listed in critical condition. The 21-year-old man suffered a graze wound to his shoulder and was also taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was treated and relesed, Gaines said.

About 9:35 p.m., a 22-year-old man was shot in his leg and foot in the 2400 block of East 99th Street. The man, who police said is a documented gang member, was taken to Trinity Hospital in good condition.

Earlier, a 17-year-old boy was critically injured in a shooting in Bronzeville. About 7:35 p.m., the boy was walking in the 4900 block of South Drexel Boulevard, near the headquarters of Rainbow/PUSH, when someone inside a minivan opened fire, hitting him in his back.

The boy was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition.

About 6 p.m., two people were wounded in a possible drive-by shooting in Auburn Gresham.

A man and a woman were in the 8000 block of South Paulina Street when they were shot, said Officer Ana Pacheco, a police spokeswoman.

The 42-year-old man was shot in both arms and his legs, Pacheco said. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center where his condition stabilized.

The woman, 40, was shot in her ankle and was taken to Holy Cross Hospital where her condition also stabilized, Pacheco said.
