Things to Do in Lincoln Park and Old Town This Weekend

Friday

Dark Star Orchestra at Park West, 322 W. Armitage Ave., 8 p.m.

Dark Star Orchestra performances are built off the extensive catalog of the Grateful Dead. They'll bring their attention to detail to Park West for an 18-and-over show. Tickets are available for $25.

Finley Knight at Lincoln Hall, 2424 N. Lincoln Ave., 9 p.m.

Finley Knight, the music project featuring brothers John Finley and Connor Knight Detjen from Chicago headlines the show at Lincoln Hall, which will also feature Spaces of Disappearance and Many Moons. Tickets for the 18-and-over show are $10.

Big James and Joanna Connor at Kingston Mines, 2548 N. Halsted St., 9 p.m.

Doors open at 7 p.m. and an acoustic blues set begins at 7:30 p.m. The first set by Joanna Connor begins at 9 p.m. on the North Stage and Big James performs in the main room at 10:30 p.m. Cover at Kingston Mines is $15 and discounts are available for students with IDs and members of the Chicago Police Department, Chicago Fire Department and all military personnel.

Saturday

Chicago Summerfest at Clark Street and Armitage Avenue, noon-10 p.m.

Chicago Summerfest returns after taking a year off with a festival headlined by 20 hours of live music including Too White Crew, 16 Candles and Wedding Banned. Spend a weekend in Lincoln Park listening to live music, shopping and taking in the scenic neighborhood attractions while drinking cold beer and eating barbecue. Mortified Chicago at Lincoln Hall, 2424 N. Lincoln Ave., 7 and 10 p.m.

Mortified hosted by Shay DeGrandis features everyday people reading their private diary entries, song lyrics and poems in front of total strangers, allowing viewers to witness personal redemption through public humiliation. Share the shame at the 21-and-over event which also features special guest The Blue Ribbon Glee Club. Tickets for the show are $15.

Green City Market, 1750 N. Clark St., 7 a.m.-1 p.m.

Check out the 10 new vendors at the outdoor market with more than 60 vendors. The market will be open from 7 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays through Oct. 25.

Sunday

The Antlers have created a quiet revolution of thought and sound with their tales of human frailty. The Brooklyn-based group will perform along with Yellow Ostrich for an 18-and-over crowd Sunday. Tickets for the show are $20.

Sharon Lewis and Linsey Alexander at Kingston Mines, 2548 N. Halsted St., 6 p.m.

The Blues Jam party features Sharon Lewis and Linsey Alexander from 6-9:30 p.m. Sunday. Cover at Kingston Mines is $15 and discounts are available for students with IDs and members of the Chicago Police Department, Chicago Fire Department and all Military Personnel.
