CHICAGO — U.S. Soccer fans planning to watch Sunday's match in Grant Park should have a little more room to jump around this time, organizers said.
Sunday's viewing party will be hosted at Lower Hutchinson Field in Grant Park, near South Columbus Drive and East Balbo Avenue.
Last Monday, about 7,000 fans packed Arvey Field in Grant Park, near South Columbus Drive and East Roosevelt Road, to watch as the U.S. team edge out Ghana 2-1 in a nail-biting match. Some even climbed trees to get a better view of the screen.
Sunday's party was also scheduled for Arvey Field, but U.S. Soccer, the organization hosting the event, changed the venue to accommodate a larger crowd, a spokesman said.
B96 host J Niice will emcee Sunday's free event, which opens at 2 p.m. The match kicks off at 5 p.m., and fans will be able to watch on a 33-by-19 foot high-definition screens. A "Fan Fest" beginning at noon will give hungry soccer fans a place to buy food and beverages.
The Petrillo Music Shell at Butler Field will host the viewing party for the team's final group match against Germany on June 26.
