Man Dead, Another Wounded in Austin Shooting

CHICAGO — A 22-year-old man is dead and a 23-year-old man are dead after a drive-by shooting in Austin Thursday night.

Around 9 p.m. Thursday, three men were standing in front of a building in the 5700 block of West Augusta Boulevard when a tan vehicle drove past and someone inside fired shots, striking two of the men, said Officer Amina Greer, a police spokeswoman.

The 22-year-old man was shot in his leg and chest, Greer said.

He was taken to Mt. Sinai, where he was pronounced dead at 9:43 p.m. He was identified as Damian Williams, of the 5700 block of West Augusta Boulevard, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner.

The 23-year-old man was shot in his chest and groin. He was taken to Mt. Sinai in critical condition, Greer said.

The vehicle drove off after the shooting and no one is in custody, Greer said.
