Things to Do in Lincoln Park and Old Town Thursday

Demetri Martin Live at Lincoln Hall, 2424 N. Lincoln Ave., 7 and 10 p.m.

The stand-up comedian rose to fame performing in New York City before being hired as a writer on "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" before starring in his own television series "Important Things with Demetri Martin." Levi Macdougall will also perform. Tickets for the 21-and-over show are $35.

Harmonica Dunn Presents: J Livi & the Party at the Tonic Room, 2447 N. Halsted Ave., 8 p.m.

The Chicago-based brass band plays nothing but funk and hip-hop. Tickets for the 21-and-older show are $5.

Navigating the Steel Barrio: the Making of Mexican South Chicago at the Chicago History Museum, 1601 N. Clark St., 5:45 p.m.

Michael Innis-Jimenez of the University of Alabama-Tuscaloosa explains the making of Mexican South Chicago in this Urban History Seminar. The event costs $25 and includes dinner, the program and parking. Reception starts at 5:45 p.m., dinner at 6:15 p.m. Program begins at 7 p.m. Advance registration requested.
