CHICAGO — Two people are dead and 17 were hospitalized after a violent weekend in Chicago.

In the most recent shooting, a 16-year-old boy was shot walking home with a friend in Back of the Yards around 11:40 p.m. Sunday.

The teen was in the 5000 block of South Marshfield Avenue when a man in a red hoodie approached and fired shots, hitting the teen in his leg. The teen was taken to Holy Cross Hospital in stable condition, said Officer Ron Gaines, a police spokesman.

Around 6:40 p.m., a 21-year-old was shot in his leg in the 1600 block of East 83rd Street in Avalon Park. He was taken to Northwestern in stable condition, Gaines said.

Around 2:51 p.m., a 17-year-old boy was shot in both of his legs in Englewood. The teen was standing in the 7100 block of South Peoria Street when a man walked up and began shooting. The teen was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in stable condition, Gaines said.

Around 1 p.m. Sunday, a woman was shot in her neck in Humboldt Park.

Eight people, including four teens, were wounded in shootings across the city from Friday night into Saturday. Saturday afternoon, police fatally shot Raason Shaw, 20, after a foot chase in Woodlawn.

During the day Friday, six people were wounded in shootings, including two in Rogers Park, and a 20-year-old man was killed in Washington Park.
