CHICAGO — The O'Hare Blue Line station is expected to reopen sometime over the weekend, the CTA announced Thursday.
The station has been closed since Monday morning, when a train jumped the track and crashed into the O'Hare station's escalator.
The train involved in the crash was completely removed from the station by Thursday afternoon, and crews were working to repair the tracks, platforms and staircases, CTA officials said.
Thirty-five people were injured when the train crashed just before 3 a.m. Monday, and investigators estimated the accident caused $6 million worth of damage.
Officials said they anticipate the station will be reopened sometime over the weekend and said more details would be provided soon.
Investigators said earlier this week the train's operator admitted to falling asleep just before the train jumped the tracks. She joined the CTA in April 2013 and had been operating trains for two months, investigators said. She had dozed off at least once before while operating a train in February, officials said.
The operator was an "extra board" employee, meaning she did not have a set schedule and would pick up shifts as needed.
