Every day we bring you stories from Chicago's neighborhoods.

Much of our news exists over the Internet, a virtual place full of tweets, posts, shares and status updates.

We are now launching an initiative at DNAinfo.com with the old-school mission of bringing people together … in real life.

Or, as they say, IRL.

DNA-IRL aims to unite DNAinfo Chicago readers with local merchants, organizing meetups and outings to restaurants, coffee shops, retail stores, bars and more. During and after the event, we'll spotlight the best IRL photos and comments.

DNAinfo Chicago will partner with some of these businesses to arrange meetups, events that DNA-IRL coordinator Alisa Hauser will help organize. DNAinfo.com could share in the proceeds of the events.

Content associated with IRL events will be labeled with the IRL logo.

Hauser has covered news in the Wicker Park and Bucktown areas for five years, first with an email newsletter, Chicago Pipeline, and since 2012, for DNAinfo Chicago.

She now will work with readers and neighborhood businesses to organize outings that are all about In Real Life experiences.
