COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — A 15-year-old boy charged with murder after his alleged accomplice in a botched armed robbery was killed was ordered held on $2 million bail Sunday.
Emmanuel Johnson is the second person charged in Deonte Mackey's death. Mackey, 16, was shot in the head by an off-duty Cook County sheriff's sergeant Monday as he, Johnson and Devante Graham, 17, allegedly tried to rob the officer at gunpoint at a gas station in the 700 block of East 103rd Street.
As Mackey pointed a gun at the officer and demanded whatever was in his pockets, Johnson rummaged through the officer's car and took a bag out of the glove box, Assistant State's Attorney Jacqueline Kwilos said.
