CHICAGO — A man has been charged in the December shooting death of a man in Englewood, police said Thursday.
Nevada Hicks, 18, was charged with first-degree murder for his role in the death of 22-year-old Demarco Lyons, authorities said.
Lyons was shot about 2:45 p.m. Dec. 8 in the 300 block of West 60th Place, according to police.
Prosecutors said Thursday, when Hicks appeard in court for a brief bond hearing, that Lyons and a witness were walking down the street when Hicks appeared with a gun.
He pointed the gun at Lyons, fired it multiple times and then jumped back into a getaway car, prosecutors said.
Lyons, of the 6000 block of South Princeton Avenue, was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:58 p.m, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
Hicks, of the 5500 block of South Paulina Street, was identified in a lineup by the witness, prosecutors said.
He was ordered held without bail Thursday.
