WICKER PARK — If learning yoga, print photography or designing a landscape garden for your home are among your goals, you'll have plenty of ways to pick up those and more skills in the Wicker Park area this weekend.

Here are a few of the highlights.

Friday

10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Annual Nickel Shoe Sale at City Soles. Buy one pair of designer shoes and get the second pair (of equal or lesser value) for 5 cents. 2001 W. North Ave. in Wicker Park.

6 to 9 p.m. Treva Gallery Opening Party. Check out West Town's newest art gallery at an exhibition party featuring works by Danielle Monet Morse and Gary D., along with original mid-century mod furniture curated by Efrain Lopez and Matthew Rachman.

8:30 p.m. "The Lost Brigade" at Double Door. Party with a bunch of local bands for a show dubbed "The Big One!" Doors open at 8 p.m. Tickets are $7, age 21 and over. 1572 N. Milwaukee Ave.

9 p.m. Martin Van Ruin at Empty Bottle. The band's debut album, "Every Man a King," contains folk rock with vintage country and chamber elements, according to music writer Jessica Hopper.  Other critics say the group has “undeniable chemistry reminiscent of Wilco and Uncle Tupelo." Tickets are $8. The Empty Bottle, 1035 N. Western Ave. in Ukrainian Village.

Saturday

9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Black & White Film Photography Workshop. If you've ever wondered what it was like to practice the art of photography before the digital era, an all-day workshop led by Patrick Pyszka will teach you how to shoot, process and print film.  Cost is $125 and requires advance registration. Chicago Community Darkroom, 1000 N. Milwaukee Ave. 4th Floor.

10 a.m. Vinyasa Yoga at Ready Coffee. Enjoy free yoga, led by instructor Sylvia Gonzalez, who has "a burning desire to spread the message of yoga." according to the coffee shop's blog. ORNOT Gallery (in the back of Ready Coffee), 1562 N. Milwaukee Ave.

10 to 1 p.m.  Landscape Design Workshop. Kick off the year with the first of a seven-week series designed to teach you how to create a sustainable landscape design for your home, church, or businesses. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.   Free Christmas Tree Recycling. Bring your tree over to the Kmart parking lot and let the experts turn it into mulch at an event sponsored by Bartlett Tree Experts and the Wicker Park Bucktown (WPB) taxpayer district No. 33. Note: No early drop-offs accepted. 1360 N. Ashland Ave. 

4:30 p.m. Sausage and Craft Beer Bar Opens. Be among the first to revel in the neighborhood's newest bar and restaurant on its opening night. Links Taproom, 1559 N. Milwaukee Ave.

7 to 11 p.m. Art Opening: Passed Glances by Ilyana Schwartz.  Peruse new works by a Chicago-based wood block printer and enjoy complimentary drinks and libations. Paperish Mess, 1955 W. Chicago Ave. in Ukrainian Village.

9 p.m. Saturday to 9 a.m. Sunday. Quimby's 3rd Annual Zlumber Party.  Spend the night writing and drawing and leave in the morning with a 'zine of your own.  Pajama attire encouraged. Bring a sleeping bag in case the creative juices need downtime. Email or call 773-342-0910 to reserve your spot.

Sunday

10 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Indoor Farmers Market in Logan Square.  Ditch the grocery store and find fresh produce from several vendors every Sunday through March 30. 2755 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Logan Square.
