CHICAGO — Three men were killed and two other people were wounded in shootings since Thursday afternoon, police said.

The most recent fatal shooting occurred Friday in Austin about 3:50 a.m., in the 5900 block of West Midway Park, said Officer Jose Estrada, a police spokesman

A 36-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene after being found with bullet wounds in his head and chest. The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office identified him as Jernale Richardson, of the 5100 block of West Ohio Street.

He was pronounced dead on the scene at 4 a.m., the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office said.

In West Garfield Park, a 27-year-old man was shot to death while walking with his girlfriend when two armed men walked up to him in the 700 block of South Kilbourn Avenue and fired shots about 8:15 p.m. Thursday, Estrada said.

The gunmen fled in a dark-colored SUV.

Authorities found the victim, who had documented gang ties, shot several times. He was identified as Dennis Glover, of the same block as the incident, and was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital at 8:46 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

The following morning, a neighbor who saw paramedics take Glover's body said people on the block mostly just "mind their business."

In another fatal shooting in North Lawndale, a 50-year-old man was shot in his chest about 7:20 p.m. in the 1600 block of South Central Park Avenue, Estrada said.

Two gunmen forced their way into an apartment looking for a woman. The victim, identified by the Medical Examiner's Office as Elijah Johnson of Oswego, Ill., got into a fight with the men that ended with him getting shot in his chest.

Johnson was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:01 p.m.

In nonfatal shootings:

• A 16-year-old boy was walking at 3:11 p.m. in the 7700 block of South Green Street in Auburn Gresham Thursday when he walked past a group of three men who fired at him, Estrada said.

The teenager was shot in his stomach and hand. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where he is in "stable" condition.

• A 24-year-old man told police shooters in a dark vehicle fired shots at a car he was in Thursday, Estrada said.

The man, who had a graze wound in his back, said he was traveling north in the 3500 block of South California Avenue in Brighton Park about 11:15 p.m.

He went to MacNeal Memorial Hospital in Berwyn and has been since released.

  • A woman was shot in the arm Friday about 7 p.m. in the 2600 block of East 76th Street, police said. She was taken to Jackson Park Hospital in "stable," condition, according to police.
