Trio Charged With Shooting Man During Belmont Cragin Home Invasion

CHICAGO — Three men were arrested for forcing their way into a Belmont Cragin home and shooting a 46-year-old man Christmas Eve morning, police said.

The incident occurred about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 2700 block of North Mango Avenue, according to a police department news release.

During a robbery, the three men forced their way into a home and shot the victim.

The trio drove away before cops arrived, but two of the suspects were found later when cops spotted a car matching the description of their car.

Two of the suspects were found in the car while a third was arrested at his home.

The victim was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was listed in serious, but "stable" condition.

The three men arrested were:

• Jose Barriga, 18, of the 2400 block of North Mango.

• Sergio Mayim, 22, of the 2500 block of North Mango.

• Matthew Andras, 25, of the 2200 block of North Menard Street.

All three were charged with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery by discharge of a firearm and home invasion causing great bodily harm.
