CHICAGO — A 4-year-old boy was killed on the Dan Ryan Expy. Sunday evening, authorities said.

The boy was thrown from a car when it crashed in the inbound lanes near 87th Street, Illinois State Police spokeswoman Monique Bond said. No other cars were involved, Bond said.

The boy, identified as Franklin Leon Jackson Jr., was taken to Comer Children's Hospital and pronounced dead at 5:25 p.m., the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office said.

The driver, believed to be the father of the boy, was being questioned but has not been charged, Bond said.

There were six people in the car at the time, including the driver and Franklin. Three other children were in the car, Bond said.

It did not appear that Franklin was restrained at the time of the crash, Bond said.
