CLEARING — A Wheaton man is due in bond court Saturday on DUI charges after he fatally struck an 82-year-old woman with his truck on Thursday night, officials said.

James Rudzinski, of the 1000 block of South College Avenue in Wheaton, was charged with a felony count of aggravated drunken driving, two misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence of drugs and a misdemeanor count of failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, according to police.

About 11:57 a.m on December 12, Rudzinski, 61, was attempting to make a left turn in the 6300 block of South Narragansett Avenue when he hit 82-year-old Bronislawa Zajac.

Zajac was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where she was pronounced dead less than an hour later at 12:40 p.m.

Rudzinski is set to appear in bond court on the charges Saturday, said Officer Jose Estrada, a police spokesman.
