BRIDGEPORT — A South Side art nonprofit is inviting local families to the Zhou B Art Center for a afternoon session of creating holiday-themed artwork.

The "Winter Art Fun" event will be taught by artist Jenny Learner, who will lead participants through lessons in decorating gingerbread figures, painting a watercolor winter wonderland and "whatever art they feel like working on," she said.

"And we’re going to make snowflakes a little fancier than what you do in school. I'll let the kids use glitter and get messy."

The event takes place from 2-5 p.m. Saturday within studio 303 at the Zhou B Art Center, 1029 W. 35th St. Admission is free and art materials will be supplied.

Saturday's workshop is part of the Oh Art Foundation's "Creative Workshop" series, which typically take place once a month, sometimes during Zhou B's Third Friday series, where artists open up their galleries and studios to the public for a night of "eclectic and enthusiastic" art admiration.

Headquartered in the center, the Oh Art Foundation is a nonprofit that aims to offer affordable arts and creative classes taught by a variety of instructors. See the group's official website for schedule and details.

Also on Saturday, studios throughout the art center will be open, with some artist hosting holiday sales, including the fourth-floor 4ART gallery's sale of handmade holiday ornaments and other goods.
