LAKEVIEW — A get-together in the 600 block of West Grace Street turned violent early Sunday after four people at the party ripped off other guests, including a 21-year-old man who was stabbed and robbed of an iPhone, police said.

The four men suspected in the crimes came to the party after one of them called the host and asked if he could attend, Town Hall District Police Cmdr. Elias Voulgaris said.

The host agreed, and the man brought along the three others to the party. It's unclear whether the host knew the other men were coming.

At the party, guests said they saw some of the men taking items from jackets and purses. After guests confronted the thieves, the men left, Voulgaris said.

But in the stairwell on their way out of the building, the group allegedly beat and stabbed a 21-year-old man who had been at the party and took his iPhone and cash, according to an account given by the victim to police.

The victim then walked down the block to IHOP, 3760 N. Halsted St., where police found him being treated by paramedics about 1:10 a.m. on Sunday, according to a Chicago Police Department spokesman.

It's unclear which of the men was involved in the attack because the victim was "very intoxicated" and unable to identify his attackers, Voulgaris said.

The victim was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic CenterHe was in stable condition, a police spokesman said.

Police have identified the man in the group of four wh initially contacted the host, but no arrests have been made. The three others involved have not been identified, Voulgaris said.
