CHICAGO — A man and a woman were injured in separate Back of the Yards shootings that happened within hours of each other Thursday morning, police said.

About 11 a.m., a 48-year-old woman was being treated on the scene after being shot in the leg in the 5200 block of South Marshfield Avenue, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The woman was later taken to St. Bernard Hospital in good condition, police said.

No further information about that shooting was immediately available, said Estrada, who cited preliminary information.

Earlier, about 8:55 a.m., a man was shot multiple times in the 5000 block of South Laflin Street after getting into an argument, Estrada said.

The 28-year-old man was taken by acquaintances to Provident Hospital, Estrada said. He was then transferred to Stroger Hospital in serious condition, Estrada said.

The shooter fled the scene, and no one was in custody.
