UPTOWN — Uptown’s chamber of commerce has a new executive director — again.

Business Partners, the Chamber for Uptown, said in an email that Keith McCormick has replaced former director Susan Swanson, who resigned in August because of health-related reasons after less than a month leading the chamber.

McCormick is “a life-long Chicago resident,” who “grew up in Uptown and surrounding neighborhoods,” according to the email. He was previously the director of cultural programs for the Chicago Children's Museum at Navy Pier.

The chamber said that while at the museum, “he demonstrated an ability to grow an institution and establish lasting relationships with partners, customers, and co-workers.”

The local man is the chamber's third leader since Paula Barrington stepped down in December to work for a pro-business organization in west suburban Wheaton.

Lisa Wagner, Barrington’s successor and Swanson's predecessor, stepped down in July to pursue a creative writing master’s degree at Columbia College Chicago.

The chamber promotes Uptown businesses, works to attract new businesses to the area and is part of the effort to bolster Uptown's entertainment district.
