CHICAGO — The death of a 3-month-old Auburn Gresham boy has been ruled a homicide, officials said Tuesday.

Police responded to a call for an unresponsive infant about 3:41 p.m. Thursday in the 1100 block of West 88th Street, police said.

Tayshaun Dyson was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 8:16 a.m. Sunday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. The medical examiner's office said the boy was found in his home in the 8900 block of South Throop Street.

Dyson's death was due to a head injury and child abuse, according to an autopsy.

The Department of Children and Family Services is investigating Dyson's father for abuse, said DCFS spokesman Dave Clarkin.

DCFS has not been contacted about Dyson's family before, and there were no other children living in the home, Clarkin said.
