CHICAGO — Two men were killed and at least 11 people — including seven teenagers — were wounded in shootings Thursday night into Friday morning, police said.
About 11:40 p.m. Thursday, a 25-year-old man was fatally shot multiple times in Washington Heights, said Officer Amina Greer, a police spokeswoman.
When cops responded to a call about shots fired in the 9000 block of South Justine Street, they found the man in his car, which had veered off the road and struck a residential planter.
The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 12:31 a.m. Friday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. He was later identified as Carlton Brown, of the 900 block of Cricle Drive in suburban Forest Park.
In West Pullman, a 29-year-old man was fatally shot while riding his bike in the first block of East 120th Street about 8:50 p.m., Greer said.
Dequantay Bingmon, of the 12000 block of South Michigan Avenue, was struck in his chest and back and pronounced dead on the scene at 9:05 p.m., authorities said.
No one is in custody for either murder.
In non-fatal shootings:
• Two teens were shot in West Pullman shortly after midnight Friday, Greer said. The men were in a car in the 12200 block of South Halsted Street when someone rode up on a bicycle and opened fire.
A 19-year-old man is in critical condition at Advocate Christ Medical Center after he was shot multiple times. An 18-year-old man was struck in his arm and treated at Metro South Medical Center.
• During a Canaryville drive-by, an 18-year-old man was shot in his right calf and lower back about 11:25 p.m. Thursday, police said. The teen was standing in the 4300 block of South Union Avenue when someone in a dark-colored SUV opened fire.
The teen, who is an admitted gang member, was treated at Stroger Hospital.
• A 26-year-old man is in critical condition at Loyola University Medical Center after he was shot in his face and back in Austin about 11:20 p.m. Thursday, said Officer Jose Estrada, a police spokesman.
The man, who police said has known gang affiliations, was struck while standing in the 1700 block of North Linder Avenue.
• In West Pullman, a 19-year-old man was shot in his abdomen in the 400 block of West 126th Place about 10:35 p.m., Estrada said. The teen was listed in "stable condition" at Advocate Christ Medical Center.
• A 16-year-old girl was shot in her thigh in Roseland about 10 p.m. Thursday, Etrada said. The girl had been standing with friends in the 10100 block of South Prairie Avenue when someone opened fire.
The girl was taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital and later transferred to Advocate Christ Medical Center.
• About 9:30 p.m., a 19-year-old man was shot in his chest and torso in South Lawndale, Estrada said. The man, who police said had gang ties, was standing with friends in the 2600 block of West 21st Place when he was shot. His friends drove him to Mount Sinai Hospital.
• Two people were shot about 9:10 p.m. Thursday when someone in a dark-colored car opened fire in Englewood, Estrada said. A 22-year-old man was struck in his buttocks and treated at Saint Bernard Hospital, while a 15-year-old boy was hit in his right leg and treated at Christ.
Police believe the shooting, which happened in the 1200 block of West 73rd Place, may have been gang-related. Both victims have gang ties, cops said.
• About 7:15 p.m. Thursday, two men drove themselves to Mercy Hospital and Medical Center after they were allegedly shot near the intersection of East 87th Street and South Stony Island Avenue in Calumet Heights.
A 25-year-old man was shot in his wrist, and a 35-year-old man was hit in his shoulder, Greer said. Both men were listed in "good condition" early Friday.
