STREETERVILLE — Good news, big guys: A new shop off Michigan Avenue caters exclusively to the XL crowd.

Destination XL opens this week above Anthropologie at 113 E. Chicago Ave., just off the Magnificent Mile.

The flagship Chicago site of the national chain joins locations in suburban Schaumburg, Oakbrook Terrace and Vernon Hills.

Described in a release as "one-stop shop catering to the fashion needs of bigger guys," Destination XL specializes in clothing from various brands sized at or above an "XL," or 38-inch waist, and carries shoes in sizes 10-16 with widths up to 4E.

Unlike its counterparts outside Chicago, the downtown store will feature a "Made to Measure" room that provides custom tailoring for clothing bought in-store, according to a release.

"Our customers seek choices, value, convenience and a unique shopping experience which DXL stores offer. We are confident that our success in the existing stores in the Chicago market will be replicated here in downtown Chicago," the chain's President and CEO David Levin said in a release.
