HYDE PARK — A women’s clothing boutique from Lincoln Park is testing the retail waters in Hyde Park by opening a pop-up shop on Friday.

“We’re hopeful that the Hyde Park community will appreciate the fact that we’re a family-owned business that supports local designers and carries lines that are made in the United States,” said Alyssa Thomas, a co-owner of the Comfort Me Boutique.

The boutique will open on Friday in the former location of Avignon, a women’s clothing store at 5241 S. Harper Avenue. It closed in July after the University of Chicago bought out its lease.

Comfort Me Boutique will host a grand opening from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Aug. 10 to show off clothing and jewelry from local designers.

Thomas said if the pop-up store is successful, she make make the boutique a permanent feature of Hyde Park.
