McKINLEY PARK — The official summer season begins Friday, which happens to be the same day the Chicago Park District opens the gates to all of its outdoor swimming pools.
That includes the pool at McKinley Park, 2210 W. Pershing Road.
Renovations have been ongoing at the pool throughout the spring, part of a roughly $500,000 park district capital improvement project, park spokeswoman Zvez Kubat said. The improvements include a new pool liner, chemical equipment, a surge tank and plumbing work.
The construction project, originally slated for last year, was pushed back after the state mandated changes for the installation of safer drains in all public pools. That work was completed in 2012.
Operating hours for the pool have not been set.
