CHICAGO — A 21-year-old mother was charged with stabbing her infant son to death in a Lincoln Square motel Thursday morning, police said.
Kimberlynn Bolanos remained at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center after she stabbed 5-month-old Isaac Bolanos to death before stabbing herself in an apparent suicide attempt, police said.
Bolanos faces a first-degree murder charge, though it's unclear when she will appear in court because she remains in the hospital, police said.
Isaac was found in a room in the Diplomat Motel, 5230 N. Lincoln Ave., about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, officials said. A front desk clerk was approached by a man shortly before, asking her to call 911.
"Call the police. The lady killed my son! The lady killed my son!" the clerk said the man shouted.
Isaac was pronounced dead at Swedish Covenant Hospital at 10:55 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
The baby's father is Jerry Brooks, 24, who was at a loss for words Friday.
"Right now, I don't even know. I can't even say nothing right now," he said in a phone interview.
He had no explanation for why this might have happened, but said "she probably was depressed."
