CHICAGO — Ah, spring in the city. Floods. Snowfall. Sunshine.
There’s been enough wacky weather to inundate homes on the North Side and cancel a ballgame on the South Side.
If anyone can make sense out of the recent meteorological melee, it’s WGN-TV’s Tom Skilling.
On Wednesday, the veteran weather man will bring his expertise to U.S. Cellular Field for Chicago White Sox Weather Day.
The event, which includes a 45-minute presentation and Q & A session, kicks off at 10:30 a.m. The first pitch against the Clevand Indians is scheduled for 1:10 p.m.
Sox ticket executive Brian Jordan said the Weather Day event, now in its fifth year, stems from a partnership between the team and the TV network.
It's a chance to give Skilling's followers — he's got nearly 77,000 Facebook fans — a little face time with their cult hero. But it’s also a chance for kids to learn something while taking in a ballgame.
“For day games, we try to get kids out here. It’s a way to entice parents and school districts to OK a field trip to the ballpark," Jordan said.
Specially priced tickets are available at the team’s official website or by calling (312) 674-1000.
