ROGERS PARK — An man died early Tuesday morning after falling down stairs at an "L" station on the far North Side, authorities said.

The man fell down the stairs at the Howard Street station after being escorted off a train by CTA security, authorities said. He appeared intoxicated and was covered in urine at the time, authorities said.

The man was later identified as Keith Anderson, 41, of the 1400 block of South Canal Street, by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

After being escorted off the train, Anderson fell down the stairs and hit his head, and police were called to the station at 2:30 a.m.

CTA spokeswoman Catherine Hosinski said Anderson was taken from the scene unconscious but breathing.

He was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, where he was pronounced dead at 3:10 a.m., according to the medical examiner's office.
