Jefferson Park Man Stole Mom's Jewelry to Fuel Drug Habit, Police Say

CHICAGO — Police said a North Side man stole jewelry from his 72-year-old mother and pawned the pieces to buy drugs.

Andrew Hayslip, 34, took necklaces, earrings and a ring from the home he shares with his mom in the 5800 block of North Markham Avenue between Jan. 4 and Feb. 19, cops said.

Hayslip admitted to taking the items and selling them to support his drug habit, police said.

He was charged with felony theft.
