CHICAGO — The Cook County Sheriff's office said Wednesday it has recovered hundreds of items stolen from storage units and is looking for their owners.
More than 250 items, including motorcycle gear and golf equipment, will be displayed at the Sheriff's police headquarters in Maywood Wednesday afternoon.
The items were found in Chicago storage units during a theft investigation in Elgin and were never reported stolen, according to Sophia Ansari, a spokeswoman for the Sheriff's office.
"No one's really come forward, so were hoping that if we can put it out to the public, people will say, 'those look like they belong to me.' "
Sheriff's detectives have been trying to identify the owners of the items since they were recovered in June.
Anyone with information on the items is asked to call 708-865-4896.
