DCFS Investigating Death of Baby Born in Roseland Toilet
CHICAGO — State child welfare authorities are investigating the death of a newborn baby found Thursday in a Roseland toilet, officials said.
The baby was found dead about 5:30 p.m. Thursday in the 200 block of West 112th Street, said officer Veejay Zala, a police spokesman. The baby was delivered into the toilet, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
Police are classifying the case as a death investigation, Zala said. The state Department of Children and Family Services also is looking into baby's death, spokesman Dave Clarkin said Friday morning.
Authorities did not immediately release the baby's name or other details.
