WICKER PARK — Early Saturday morning, officers spotted three individuals in front of a Bank of America branch in Wicker Park, except they weren't there for the ATM.

Taylor Larned, 19, of the 100 block of North State Street, was charged with a misdemeanor of criminal defacement to property around 12:40 a.m. after an officer on patrol observed him marking a pillar in front of the bank with the letters "QFK."

"He said he wrote on the wall as part of an art project," said police spokeswoman Officer Laura Kubiak.

Larned, who is a college student, allegedly used a blue-black crayon to make his tag and has no prior arrest history and no gang affiliations, according to Kubiak.

Bank of America officials could not be reached for comment.

Larned will appear March 15 in Cook County Court Branch 23.
