Chinatown Chamber Offers Lunar New Year Restaurant Coupons

By Casey Cora | January 31, 2013 7:09am

CHINATOWN — Each year, the Lunar New Year brings with it the possibilities of hope, blessings and better luck.

Once again, the Chicago Chinatown Chamber of Commerce is marking the occasion with a discount program allowing restaurant patrons to save a small fortune while dining out at select restaurants.

"Chinatown does not get as much business during the winter months so as spring approaches, we hope to bring customers to Chinatown and into our restaurants," said chamber director Jessica Q. Lee.

Sixteen restaurants are participating, including Chiu Quon Bakery, House of Fortune, Lee Wing Wah, Moon Palace, My Place, New Chinatown Restaurant, New Three Happiness, Small Three Happiness and Sweet Station.

Also participating are the restaurants of noted chef Tony Hu — Lao Beijing, Lao Hunan, Lao Mala, Lao Shanghai, Lao Szechuan, Lao You Ju and Lao Yunnan.

The discount, printable at the Chinatown Chamber's website, is good for 15 percent off the restaurant bill and is valid Feb. 15 through March 14.

Beware of the fine print, though — the discounts are not valid for lunch, weekends or Family Dinners and can't be used by parties of eight or more.

The Lunar New Year begins Feb. 10. The Chinatown annual Lunar New Year Parade takes place Feb. 17 at 1 p.m.
