ROGERS PARK — A Loyola University student was robbed at gunpoint Tuesday near Kilmer Elementary School, the second robbery of its kind in the past two weeks, officials said.

The student was walking in an alleyway about 5 p.m. Tuesday in the 6700 block of North Greenview Avenue when the victim was approaced by two men, who flashed a handgun and stole "several items of value," said Robert Fine, Loyola's director of campus safety.

Two weeks ago, on Jan. 15, another university student was held up by two men with a silver handgun near the intersection of North Shore and Lakeview avenues. They took the female's student's cell phone and money, Fine said.

Fine cautioned students on the school's website to avoid walking alone when off campus.
