Nike Training Club Opening in Lincoln Park

By Paul Biasco | January 28, 2013 4:13pm

LINCOLN PARK — Nike is opening its first ever Nike Training Club in Lincoln Park Monday, which will be a retail store and workout studio dedicated to women's fitness.

The two story storefront at 833 W. Armitage Ave. will feature women's closing and workout gear on the first floor and a workout space on the second floor.

The concept is for the space to be a women's resource for "training, running and living."

The second floor of the space will host a variety of free fitness classes for women such as bar-based workouts, yoga classes and pilates.

Nike's newest Chicago location fills the space previously held by the United Colors of Benetton on Armitage Avenue.

Workers were finishing up some final work on the space Monday afternoon, touching up paint and hanging Chicago-centric photography on the walls. The business planned on opening later in the afternoon and will be open from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. seven days a week starting Tuesday.

The company has taken a liking to the Lincoln Park area, having already transformed a field house in Lincoln Park last summer into a seasonal pop-up fitness center and retail shop called the Nike FuelHouse.

Nike also completely revamped its North Michigan Avenue flagship location in late September.

Nike Chicago's twitter account @NikeChicago tweeted about the new location late Monday morning: "Hey Lincoln Park girls: Something just for you is headed your way today."

The business plans on hosting a grand opening in February.
