BUCKTOWN—The end of 2012 was packed with real estate activity, based on the latest sales data for the neighborhoods of Wicker Park and Bucktown.

According to realtor Eva Bergant's blog, there were 22 closings in a two-week period from Dec. 16th to the 31st.

Four of the closings were short sales and one was a foreclosure.

Seven of the sales were single family homes, 12 were attached condos or townhouses and three were multi-unit buildings.

Among the highlights were two sales at the 'Urban Treehouse' condominiums at 1849 N. Hermitage Ave., formerly home to the Sisters of the Resurrection convent built in 1905 and just across the street from St. Mary of the Angels School.

A 3-bedroom, 2-bath penthouse condo with a garage space sold in the 'Urban Treehouse' for $775,775.00 Dec. 31, while earlier in the month, a 3-bedroom, 2-bath condo sold in just one day for $692,115,000.

The former convent was transformed into an 'Urban Tree house featuring seven luxury condominiums built by Ranquist Development in spring 2012, according to Curbed.com.

Bergant, who said she has no financial interest in the project, praised the developer, Karen Ranquist, for doing "such a fabulous job taking neighborhood input to preserve an impressive older building and reuse it in a modern context."

"[Ranquist] didn't just turn the convent into one or two $2 million dollar homes. They took a building with some great architecture and historic value and made it into housing for many people. They deserve a neighborhood plus for that," Bergant said.

Other Two-Week Highlights Include:

A 1-bed, 1-bath condo at 1829 N. Milwaukee Ave. sold as a short sale for $75,000 (Dec. 20).

A 1-bed, 1-bath condo at 1553 N. Bell Ave. sold in just one day for $199,000 (Dec. 31).

A 2-bed, 2-bath condo with parking at 2041 W. Potomac St. sold in just five days for $340,000 (Dec. 28).

A 3-bed, 3.1 bath Penthouse condo at 1950 N. Damen Ave. sold for $608,500 (Dec. 19).

A 2-bed, 2 bath condo with garage parking at 2352 W. Shakespeare Ave. sold in seven days for $355,000 (Dec. 29).

A multi-unit building at 1319 N. Oakley Ave. sold as a short sale for $313,500 (Dec.  21).

A 4-bed, 4.1-bath home at 1935 W. Dickens Ave. in Bucktown that was featured in Season 1 of the NBC drama Chicago Fire (in a scene called "Putting Out a Grease Fire at a Wealthy Lady's House") sold as a short sale for $1,257,000 (Dec. 19).

A 5-bed, 3.1 bath home at 1921 W. Dickens Ave. that was on the market for just 15 days sold for $1,115,000 (Dec. 19).
