Reporter/Producer
shayna.jacobs@dnainfo.com

Shayna Jacobs is a DNAinfo reporter/producer covering courts and legal issues in Manhattan. She can often be found on a MacBook in a Wi-Fi hotspot downtown, working criminal cases and lawsuits in the city, state and federal court systems.

Shayna graduated from Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism in 2009. Her thesis explored forensics and DNA evidence in the city's criminal justice system using evidence from a Bronx cold case homicide.

Before grad school, Shayna reported for the Free Lance-Star, a daily newspaper in Virginia an hour south of Washington, D.C. She has also written for the Daily News and worked as a stringer during several breaking news events for the Associated Press, including the miracle on the Hudson. She has a B.A. in History from Montclair State University.

Shayna recently moved out of Harlem to the Upper East Side, from where she has to travel just a little bit further to see her beloved Yankees.

Fun Fact: Her favorite New York movies include "Goodfellas," "Serpico" and "Do the Right Thing."
