Reporter/Producer
jon.schuppe@dnainfo.com

Reporter/Producer Jon Schuppe covers the neighborhoods of Washington Heights, Inwood, Harlem and East Harlem.

Before joining DNAinfo, Jon Schuppe spent his entire journalism career in newspapers, most recently at The Star-Ledger in Newark, where he covered government, politics and inner-city crime.

Jon was part of a team of reporters that won the 2005 Pulitzer Prize for coverage of Gov. James E. McGreevey's resignation. His chronicling of Newark's drug trade, gang wars and gun smuggling won the University of Colorado's 2008 Al Nakkula Award for Police Reporting.

Jon loves newspapers. Really. Until recently, he thought that was where he would spend the rest of his life. Then he saw all the cool stuff a reporter could do online. He's excited to train his camera, and notebook, on Washington Heights. He also covers crime.

Jon was born in St. Louis, and though he moved to New Jersey when he was young, he remains a Cardinals fan, and still nurses a grudge against the 1980s Mets. So when he goes to games, he chooses Yankee Stadium.

Jon lives with his wife, a magazine editor, and their daughter in Washington Heights, where there are lots of strollers, great parks and zero parking.

Fun Fact: The first album Jon owned was "ELO's Greatest Hits," purchased immediately after seeing the movie, "Xanadu."
