MANHATTAN — A trio of muggers broke a young man's jaw and eye socket during a brutal broad daylight mugging in front of a Harlem school last week, police said.

The suspects allegedly set on the 23-year-old victim in front of P.S. 149 Sojourner Truth, on West 117th Street, near Lenox Avenue, just after noon on March 8.

Police said that they assaulted the victim and then snatched his wallet and iPhone.

The victim was taken to Harlem Hospital where he was treated for a broken jaw and eye socket, police said.

The Department of Education did not immediately return a call for comment. P.S. 149 serves grades K-8.
