QUEENS — An Astoria man wanted for questioning in the vicious killing of his wife, Tara Hawes, has been captured in Connecticut after going on the lam last week, police sources said Monday.

Jordan Hawes, 32, was nabbed by Connecticut state police Sunday after disappearing following the alleged beating death of his wife in her 30th Street home on Thursday, sources said.

The details of Hawes' capture were not immediately clear and a spokeswoman for the Connecticut State Police on Monday afternoon could not confirm the arrest.

Cops in New York were hunting Jordan Hawes after finding his 33-year-old wife bloodied from severe head injuries in her second-floor apartment at 26-80 30th St. just before 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

The medical examiner determined that she suffered blunt force trauma to the head, police said.

On Friday, the NYPD released a surveillance image of Jordan Hawes using his wife's ATM card on Jan. 31 and released information about the car he could be driving.

Neighbors at Hawes' building said they heard the couple fighting at times, but described Jordan Hawes as soft-spoken when he encountered other residents.

"He doesn't really speak to other people," said one neighbor, Fabian, who declined to provide his last name.

"He kept to himself," said Alejandro Tellez, 27, a neighbor.
